Studies on hepatic sulfobromophthalein removal during infusion.

چکیده
Experiments were performed with the infusion of sulfobromophthalein (BSP) for brief periods (15 mm.) in man, following an initial massive dose of dye at the beginning of the experiment. Infusion was such as to ensure a continuous increase in the plasma BSP level. In these conditions, BSP removal due to the storage capacity of the liver was studied. The rate of removal was found to depend on the concentration gradients of BSP/protein in the serum and in the liver cell. It was also shown that the values for the hepatic removal determined according to this method are correlated in a highly significant manner with the values for the BSP clearance.

The effect of sodium taurocholate on the hepatic metabolism of sulfobromophthalein sodium (BSP). The role of bile flow.
The influence of bile salts on the hepatic metabolism of sulfobromophthalein sodium (BSP) was studied in the perfused rat liver. During sodium taurocholate infusions, hepatic uptake of BSP from plasma was increased and appeared to be related to an enhanced transit of BSP from liver into bile. BSP-glutathione conjugation was not affected by the bile salt infusions, although bile salts inhibited ...

Simultaneous measurements of hepatic and portal venous blood flow in the sheep and dog.
KATZ, M. L., AND E. N. BERGMAN. Simultaneous measurements of hepatic and portal venous blood ji’ow in the sheep and dog. Am. J. Physiol. 216(4) : 946-952. 1969.-An indicator-dilution method was developed which allowed simultaneous measurement of both portal and hepatic venous blood flow and which consisted of a constant infusion of para-aminohippuric acid (PAH) into a mesenteric vein. The hepat...
متن کاملLong-lasting inhibition of the transporter-mediated hepatic uptake of sulfobromophthalein by cyclosporin a in rats.
Cyclosporin A (CsA) is a well known inhibitor of the organic anion-transporting polypeptide (OATP/Oatp) family transporters, causing a large number of transporter-mediated drug-drug interactions in clinical situations. In the present study, we examined the inhibitory effect of CsA on the hepatic uptake of sulfobromophthalein (BSP) in rats, focusing on a long-lasting inhibition. Twenty-one hours...
